Summer Time Is Here!

May 22nd, 2011

Wow!  It is  hard to believe that  our mild spring has turned into summer!  We have already hit 90+ degrees!  Well, you know what that means…….school is almost out and the kids can’t wait.  Edmond schools adjourn for summer break on Friday, May 27th.  It is  important to remember that there will be many kids performing outdoor activities now, so please watch out and drive carefully through our neighborhood.

The Board will be meeting soon to finalize the date for the July ice cream social and discuss other events.  One event that is always popular is the annual neighborhood garage sale, which is held in October.  We know that summer will, most likely, fly by and we’ll soon be getting ready for it…..

Before we start thinking about Fall and cooler weather, we still have many more “Hot” summer days to face and outdoor activities to participate in.  A typical weekly activity is mowing the lawn.  Don’t forget that Yard of the Week contest starts in 2 weeks!  Check the website each week to see the winners.

Have a great summer!

Spring Has Sprung!

April 6th, 2011

Finally, we are starting to have warmer weather and it’s really nice to see the trees and grass “green up” and the flowers bloom……

It’s hard to believe how time flies.  As we return to outside activities, we usually think about picnics, ball games, walks in the park or mowing the lawn.  Our annual “Yard of the Week” contest will be starting this year on June 4th and ends on August 27th.  Yards are judged by the Board each week on Saturday, with a winner announced by the following Monday.  So, grab your lawn mower and work gear and get ready to be one of our winners this year!

Also, look forward to the ice cream social in July (date to be determined soon) and other neighborhood activities which will be announced on the website.

Have a safe and happy spring….

January 3rd, 2011

The Holiday Lighting Contest was held on December 14th and our local firemen from station 4, who judged the contest,  had a good time touring the neighborhood.  They started out at the VanOosten home to enjoy some snacks and to visit with others in the neighborhood.  They were very appreciative of the gift card donated by AVHOA.  They did a great job judging the homes and it was difficult to identify just 5 winners, since there were a lot of homes neatly decorated throughout the neighborhood!  The following households were winners:

Winter Wonderland – Rusnack’s – 1709 Chickasha

Most Holiday – McAvoy’s – 3904 Anadarko

Best Sports Theme – Peterson’s – 3920 Anadarko

Honorable Mention #1 – David Hornbeek’s (The Firemen loved the Leg Lamp)

2010 AVHOA Garage Sale Recap

October 12th, 2010

Thank you to all AV neighbors on a successful garage sale.  We had 19 homes participate and even with the constant entrance traffic, we didn’t have any major problems.  Thanks for everyone’s patience during the morning traffic jam!

Thank you to neighbors Ute Chilcote and Pam Bell for coordinating this year’s sale.  We will need future sale coordinators.  Can you volunteer?

If you have any suggestions regarding the neighborhood garage sale, please email your suggestions to our AV email address, info@arrowheadvalleyhoa.com.  Would you rather have a Spring or Fall sale?  How can we better publicize the sale?  How can we make the sale better for everyone in the neighborhood?

Thanks!
