Well, it won’t be long before our mild Spring days turn into hot Summer days. Usually, it means we will receive (as we have lately), lots of rainfall as the weather changes. Everything is certainly starting to “green up” and bloom. This can only mean one thing……..the annual “Yard of the Week” contest will be kicking off soon. This year’s contest will begin on June 5th. Yards are judged by the Board each week on Saturday, with a winner announced by the following Monday. So, grab your work gloves, lawn mower, and yard tools and get prepared to stake your claim as one of our winners this year!
Also, look forward to additional summer events which will be announced soon, including an ice cream social and other neighborhood “get-togethers”. Additionally, the Arrowhead Swim Team is forming and has openings available for a few more participants to join. Please refer to the email sent to you on May 17th for additional details.
Have a safe and relaxing summer!

Arrowhead Valley residents should have now received information in US Mail about the upcoming Special Assesssment Meeting. The meeting will be held on April 1, 2010 at 7:30 PM at our neighborhood Braum’s store (15th & I-35 Service Rd). Residents are asked to attend the meeting and vote to approve the special assessment cost of removing the current NE entrance sign and installing a new sign. The new sign was chosen from two options presented to residents at the annual meeting in October and by voting poll on our website. The special assessment cost requires a vote of approval from half, or 45 out of 90, of the households. The cost of removing the old sign and installing the new one is $160.45 per household.
Residents are asked to attend the meeting. If you cannot attend, please complete the proxy vote form which is attached to the information mailed to you and deliver to Shane VanOosten’s home at 3816 Chickasha before April 1, 2010.
Questions regarding this special assessment meeting can be directed to the Board via email at info@arrowheadvalleyhoa.com

Dear Residents:
At our recent Annual Board Meeting, I had the pleasure of being named the new Arrowhead Valley Home Owners Association Board President. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mike Rusnack for his hard work as President for the past three years. Bryan McGaha and I greatly appreciate Mike volunteering for another term so that he could show us the ropes. I know that I have really big shoes to fill; Mike thank you very much for all that you have done. I would also like to thank Bryan for his hard work with this website. He has done a great job in order to get this up and running and it looks terrific.
Due to my new position and no volunteers at the Board Meeting, we are still looking for someone to take the place of Vice President. We are also looking for someone to volunteer their home for the annual Christmas Dinner. If you are interested in serving on the Board or would like to volunteer to host the Christmas gathering, please e-mail the Board at info@arrowheadvalleyhoa.com.
Another topic at our Annual Board Meeting this year was the discussion to replace the east front entry sign. At the meeting, we presented three sign designs for the group to review. It was approved by a vote that two of these designs should be presented to the rest of the neighborhood via the website to be voted upon. Voting will take place via the “POLL” feature located on the right-side bar or column area of the website. This poll area is visible and active on every page of the website. POLL WILL OPEN AT 12:01 AM ON NOVEMBER 20TH AND CLOSE AT 11:59 PM ON DECEMBER 19TH. Questions or problems with the website should be reported via info@arrowheadvalleyhoa.com or telephone Bryan McGaha at 844-7613.
Please note that our existing entry sign is literally falling apart. In order to replace the sign we will need to remove the existing sign and install a new electrical meter box, circuit breaker box/breakers as well as relocate the irrigation control panel and outlet that is currently mounted on the back side of the sign. In discussions with the electrician, I asked them to provide me with a price to bore under asphalt paving and add a light fixture to illuminate the west side of our entrance.
Below you find the Special Assessment Cost per household for the options of the two sign designs. Please note that the below costs include the demolition and haul-off of the existing sign, all electrical work, the additional light fixture on the west side, and the new sign itself.
The Board and the residents present at the Annual Meeting have decided that we will allow 30 days for the residents to vote on which sign option to proceed with. Once the 30 days have passed, the Board will notify each household which sign was selected and will request that every household pay the Special Assessment Costs as soon as possible. We will not proceed with the installation of the sign until all payments are received. However, the Board has decided that we must proceed with the electrical work and demolition of the existing sign because it is so loose at its foundation that there is a risk that it may damage the electrical service and cause a fire (as stated by a warning we received from the City of Edmond).
If you should have any questions or concerns, please let us know. Also, please visit this new website as often as possible to check for updates on upcoming events.
Thank you,
Shane VanOosten

Well, the holidays will be here before you know it and the hustle and bustle will begin. We wanted to post a friendly reminder that we will be mailing dues notices this week, so please look for them in your mailbox soon. Your payment will need to be postmarked by 12/31/09 and mailed to the address listed on the invoice (Arrowhead Valley HOA, 4004 Chickasha, Edmond, OK 73013).
Dues this year are $185.00, which remain the same as last year. In accordance with our By-Laws (Article XVI, Section 7-8) and our Covenants (Article VII, Section 7-8), dues over 30 days will incur a monthly 1 1/2% interest charge until paid in full. If you prefer to pay online using PayPal, you can access this option by visiting the “Financial” page of the website. Dues are $190.67 (includes service fees) using PayPal.
Thank you for your participation and contribution to our Homeowner’s Association and your overall commitment to continue to make Arrowhead Valley a great place to live.

”A big electronic HELLO from our newly launched neighborhood website!!!!!!
Let me begin by extending a tremendous THANK YOU to Bryan McGaha (Board Secretary) for all his hard work, research, and perseverance in bringing to reality our first ever Homeowners Website.
We certainly hope that you all find this informative, useful and more beneficial than receiving emails with attachments. As a Board we intend this to be the primary vehicle by which to communicate and avail the residents of needed information. Please take the time to roam around. We look forward to you being able tot pay your annual dues via PayPal from this site, find your neighbor’s email address, read the by-laws and covenants, post up your house for sale and much more!
I would like to begin this inaugural website message by reporting that we have remained extremely fiscally conservative, as a Board, in spending your dues and that we have operated extremely within our budget throughout 2009. We have addressed the needed items with a conscience eye towards economical spending.
I am less happy to report that there has been literally nothing happening regarding the property to our North known as Hilltop Plaza.
I would like to start now by encouraging folks to mark their calendars for the Annual Homeowners meeting during the last week in October. I also strongly urge folks to consider running to serve on the Board. This will be my last year, after a three year run. It’s a great opportunity to make a difference and support our residents. Given that our residents are really a low maintenance great group of folks, there is little in the way of resident discourse (knock on wood) to tend to day in and day out, add that to minimal common areas and super neighborhood kids and you get a Board experience that is not overwhelming – please consider the opportunity!
We have the Annual Garage sale nearing so we hope you look forward to that event and then of course start buying those Christmas bulbs now for the Annual Lighting contest, with categories to announce in the near future.
I look forward to talking with you next month in the AVHOA Board Corner!
Take Care
Regards,
Mike
