Arrowhead Valley News Update

The AVHOA Board is now planning for the annual Arrowhead Valley Garage Sale.  The date we have selected is Saturday, April 27th.  We need to determine an initial count of neighbors who plan to participate.  Please send an email to info@arrowheadvalleyhoa.com by April 8th if you are planning on participating.  Please give us your name and home address.  We typically need 15-20 homes to participate to ensure the event is successful.  We will advertise the event in the Edmond Sun and Daily Oklahoman newspapers.  Cost for each family to participate is $15.00. This helps cover the cost of the advertising/banners/signs/etc.  Money will be collected on the day of the sale.

We are also planning a “Street Cookout Party” in one of the neighborhood cul-de-sacs or potentially the park.  First thoughts about location leans toward a cul-de-sac for the most room.  We are planning on grilling hamburgers, hotdogs along with other traditional picnic foods.  The date we have set for this is Saturday, May 18th.  Time would most likely be set for late morning/early afternoon.  Please RSVP to info@arrowheadvalleyhoa.com if you can attend.

Additionally, we wanted to provide you with some information about upcoming changes for the City of Edmond Recycling Program:

Beginning in June, all City of Edmond utility customers will receive a new, larger capacity recycling cart. The new recycling cart has a 95-gallon capacity and comes with a lid and wheels for convenient moving. Another benefit is that more materials can be placed in the new cart, including cardboard, which is not accepted in the current 18-gallon bins.

“The decision to make this change was made in response to a citizen-driven demand for more recycling capabilities. Edmond is growing and the participation in the recycling program is increasing. This service gives the customer a larger capacity and the ability to recycle more materials,” said Solid Waste Superintendent, Bob Masterson.

New carts will be delivered to homes in June, and the first pickup will begin July 1. Unlike the current recycling program, the new carts will be serviced every other week. A reminder calendar will be provided with the delivery of the cart. Normal solid waste collection dates and times will remain the same. Please make sure that carts are placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the service day.

All City of Edmond utility customers will receive the new recycling carts and are encouraged to participate in the recycling program. Currently, the recycling charge is $2.32 a month. With the new program, the monthly charge will increase to $2.80. The customer will not be charged a flat rate for the new carts or the 18-gallon bins. As of July 1, the 18-gallon bins will no longer be used. The resident can either keep the 18-gallon bin or recycle them.
